New Steriking® Pouch for Robotic Instruments Provides Hospitals with Significant Cost & Time Savings

Wipak(1) has taken healthcare packaging efficiency to the max, with the launch of a new and extra- strong pouch specifically developed for packing robotic instruments and other long devices. As part of the world-famous Steriking® range, the value-adding pouch provides significant time savings to hospitals as it is two to five times faster than traditional tray wrapping and two times faster than cutting and sealing from a roll.

The Steriking® Pouch for Robotic Instruments was developed by Wipak to save hospitals significant time and money. Featuring strong materials, the pouch keeps instruments sterile during transportation and storage. It is made with an extra strong paper for added protection, with high puncture resistance and outstanding resistance to microbial penetration. The pouch also
incorporates Wipak’s acclaimed Multi-X9 multilayer film, which consists of nine layers, each with their own features and functions to make the film incredibly tough and durable.

Mira Santala, Product Manager for Health Care Facilities at the Wipak Group, explained: “Single instruments can be packed and stay sterile even if not used in an operation, which results in less reprocessing of these highly expensive devices.

“The pouch comes in different sizes which allows double pouching, as well as longer shelf life post- sterilization than wraps. Furthermore, the pouch means that hospitals make significant savings in material consumption and produce less waste then they would if the continued to use tray wraps.”

The Steriking® Pouch for Robotic Instruments allows for sterilization of robotic instruments via steam, giving it a superior bacterial barrier and protection against contamination. It is available as a heat sealable or a self-sealable product, and provides clean, fiber-free opening.
