The Phoenix Challenge Foundation announces the 2019 High School Flexo Skills Competition Dates – March 20-22
Charlotte, NC (23 January 2019) – The Phoenix Challenge Foundation, a premier supporter of building Flexo in education and building the workforce of tomorrow, is excited to announce the 22nd annual Phoenix Challenge High School Skills Competition. This successful event continues to build and breed interest and talent in graphic arts and Flexographic printing. This year’s program continues to be held at Central Piedmont Community College March 20 – 22, 2019 at the Harper Campus in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The competition brings 30 - 40 students from various parts of the USA who show their knowledge and compete in teams using their skills and showcasing various disciplines from prepress, plate making and mounting to mathematics and written skills to print set-up and press operation. After two and half days of skills challenges and press-room judging, students are awarded and winners receive recognition to continue their pursuit of careers in label and package printing.

About the Phoenix Challenge Foundation

The Phoenix Challenge Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization of industry professionals dedicated to the recruitment and development of the future workforce for flexography. Each year flexo students and teachers from throughout the U.S. and Canada are invited to the Phoenix Challenge Competitions. The High School event is a two-and-half-day skill-based competition with hands-on and comprehension testing in operating a flexo press, prepress, plate-making, and overall flexo knowledge. The Phoenix Challenge College Competition is a school year long event in which an industry problem is presented to the students and requires both market and manufacturing research.
