Mondi will showcase expanded ultra-HD printing, paper-based formable food packaging and water-resistant industrial paper bag
LAS VEGAS – September 23, 2019 – Mondi, a global leader in innovative and sustainable packaging and paper solutions, will highlight several product innovations at the Pack Expo 2019 trade show, which kicks off today and runs through Sept. 25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. These product highlights, showcased in Booth LS-6516, include ultra-high-definition (HD) flexographic printing, the PerFORMing natural-look food packaging material and the SPLASHBAG water-repellent industrial paper sack.
Ultra-HD Printing
At Pack Expo, Mondi welcomes the opportunity to share its expanded North American ultra-HD printing capabilities with attendees. The company’s Jackson, Mo., production facility has additional capacity to perform this type of printing, which produces high-quality images and text typically associated with rotogravure printing but with the efficiencies and cost advantages of flexographic printing. Mondi can help consumer goods companies and brand owners to print vibrant images and compelling marketing messages at an affordable cost. Ultra-HD flexographic printing also allows for more economical shorter print runs, enabling brands to respond with agility to changing market trends.
PerFORMing
PerFORMing is a thermoformable multilayer packaging material with a brown color that suits current consumer demand for a more natural look and feel in packaged goods. This paper-based solution, which is naturally brown without the use of dyes, is ideal for packaging meats and cheeses on food trays as well as for portion packs and many other applications. PerFORMing provides high barrier properties while reducing plastic use by up to 80 percent compared with traditional shallow trays.
SPLASHBAG
Mondi’s SPLASHBAG, a water-repellent industrial paper valve bag for dry, powdery materials, can resist direct rain for up to six hours and moisture ingress for up to five days. The bag’s endurance helps customers who are working with cement bags to save time and money on their construction sites because they experience fewer broken bags, lower clean-up costs and fewer trips from the warehouse to the site. Available in 55-pound (25 kg) and 77 pound (35 kg) sizes, the SPLASHBAG can be filled and de-aerated just as quickly as standard industrial sacks. For extra moisture protection, the bags can be manufactured with an optional inner plastic film, which can be easily removed from the paper after use for recycling purposes.
