Contact Celebrates as Optimus Technology Wins Stationers' Award
Leading packaging origination and flexo plate-making company, Contact Originators, is celebrating after receiving a top honour at the prestigious Stationers’ Innovation Excellence Awards.
The company’s OptimusTM plate technology, designed to provide printers with proven savings, was named winner in the Business Process category at the annual awards, held at the esteemed Stationers’ Hall in London’s Ave Maria Lane.
Organised, judged and presented by the Stationers’ Company, the awards seek to praise the best innovations from the worlds of printing, printing supplies, publishing, packaging, office products, promotion and communication.
“We are thrilled to have been honoured with a Stationers’ award,” said Steve Mulcahy, CEO of Contact. “We have enjoyed some wonderful customer feedback praising the impact that Optimus has had on their businesses since its launch. The fact that it has now been recognised by the body which represents so many within the print industry means this award is extra special.”
The new technology solution was adopted for a project with leading packaging client, Smurfit Kappa Group, who required high-performance print on corrugated boxes for a well-known fashion brand.
Optimus delivers improved ink laydown and ink reductions in the corrugated print process and can save brands up to 20% on ink usage and up to 10% on ink formulation compared to a standard plate.

The awards were presented at the exalted Stationers’ Hall, home of the Stationers’ Company, which for centuries has represented the interests of the printing and communications industry, on the 25th June 2019.
